From a 1985 & 1999 planting of Semillon the vines were cordon cut and the fruit allowed to desiccate for three weeks on the vine. After hand picking it was crushed and held on skins for three days to help extract the flavour from the desiccated berries before pressing. Fermentation was long and slow due to the difficult conditions faced by the yeast. The fermentation was stopped and the wine filtered. The wine was then bottled and matured for release. Dessert wine, medium-bodied style with a luminescent straw color. Dried pear, apricot, and figs scent with dried pear and apricot marmalade with balancing acid finish taste.

Small parts of our Mourvedre and Grenache blocks on our Greenock vineyard were identified early in the ripening process to be ideal for the production of our 2018 Rosé. Picking the fruit ripe to ensure the wine has flavour, but early enough (weeks before we picked the rest of the grapes for our GSM) to retain delicious acidity has allowed us to create the type of Rose that will put a smile on the face of anyone who drinks it. Dry, zesty, and pretty!

The Barossa Valley has a very long and proud history with Semillon, and the Ashmead family are excited to bring to you our second release of this variety from our estate vineyard in Greenock. Harvest 2018 gave us good conditions to make this very small batch wine, which we have made using traditional Barossan techniques, and it is our belief that this wine will drink well for many years to come. Elegant, textural, and focused style with a pale straw color.

The wine, hailing from the 2016 vintage, is a supreme example of rich and luscious Barossa Shiraz. It was hand picked, fermented in 2 large barrels (around 1500 litres each) and left on skins in these closed vessels for about six weeks. The wine was then pressed and spent a couple of winters in some of our favourite French oak. Massive blockbuster style with a dense, dark purple color. Blackberry and blueberry with spicy cloves and cinnamon with a rich, round, spicy, and intense with great length and complex taste.

The Ode to Lorraine is a blend of the finest barrels of each of the Elderton Nuriootpa vineyard varietals. Each year, through meticulous work on the tasting bench, we select a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot which best reflects the nuances of each variety. The 2015 vintage is a blend of parcels, fermented in concrete open fermenters, with selected barrel ferments and press cuts, giving warm and generous fruit characters, spiciness and generous length, whilst still being a Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend. With a rich and sophisticated style and dark ruby color. Plum, dark fruits of the forest and chocolate aroma and warm and generous fruit characters, spiciness and generous length.

The hand harvested fruit was fermented in open top concrete fermenters with chilled ferments, hand pump-overs and cap submerging with oak header boards for eight days; the process finished with barrel ferment and malolactic fermentation in new French oak. The nose shows dark chocolate and black fruits and olives, with the palate continuing the theme, showing these typical Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon characters, giving weight and generosity to the wine. Ripe tannins add structure while being supple and mouth watering.
